Previous Match...

24th September - F.A. Vase

Ashby Ivanhoe 2-0 Rocester

This is what the 'Gaffer' had to say 'post match';

"Firstly, I'm very disappointed with the result...
In the first-half, we stuck to the game plan and should have been 'one-up' after missing a good chance, but second-half key moments cost us...
A free header from a corner is unacceptable and the centre-backs have to take responsibility for that...
We got overrun in the second-half a little because we asked a lot from the boys - from the derby win versus Uttoxeter Town, eight players were missing - which is extraordinary for any manager.
There were players yesterday that I'd never met before, nevermind see play - so bearing that in mind, playing an Ashby side that have been together for a while and at the 'top end' of the Midland League, makes the performance slightly more acceptable to me...
Without question, the major positive was the performance of Sam Griffiths - who was the best player on the pitch. He's been brought in 'from the cold' and performed to a high level.
He's a great lad and a real asset to have back at the club...
It's what the club needs - characters and leaders on the pitch! Another day, if we took our chances, it would have been a different story but it's something to build on and players are learning new standards."

Wise words indeed from the manager!

So the team can take the positives from the last couple of matches as they resume league action when they travel to Cheadle Town next Saturday.

C'mon You Mighty Romans!!!
