 LATEST NEWS

Saturday 31st July

The Romans opened their 2021/22 account with a 2-1 win as they welcomed Eccleshall FC to Hillsfield.

Both Rocester's goals (including a well-taken penalty) were credited to 'new signing' Alexander Cimino and in reply, former Rocester striker Jack Dundas scored for Eccleshall with just 12 minutes remaining.

However, the Romans dug in to secure a victory and a great start to their season.

Saturday 24th July

The Romans continued their busy pre-season schedule as we welcomed Burscough Richmond FC to Hillsfield.
After four games in a week, we may have been a little jaded as we were beaten by our visitors 2 goals to nil.
However, we now have a week to focus on the task ahead as the new season commences on Saturday when we welcome Eccleshall FC.
Many thanks are due to Burscough Richmond for yet another great pre-season workout and we wish them all the very best in the coming season.

Thursday 22nd July

The Romans continued their hectic pre-season schedule with a visit to Northwood Lane where they played Redgate Clayton FC.
Unfortunately, this was not one of the Romans' finest performances as they were beaten 5-0!
However, many thanks to Redgate for a really useful workout and we wish them all the very best in the coming season.

Tuesday 20th July

The Romans continued their hectic pre-season schedule with a visit to Pointon's Park where they played Newcastle Town FC.
Despite a heavily depleted squad on the night, the Romans were up for the game.
Although they conceded a couple of goals in the first half, Jordan Dodd netted for the Romans.
Newcastle scored a third in the second half after being awarded a penalty.
However, Rocester made a number of really good chances including hitting the woodwork a couple of times.
So overall, plenty of positives to be taken from this performance.
Final score 3-1.
Many thanks to Newcastle for another really useful workout and we wish them all the very best in the coming campaign.

Saturday 17th July

Rocester found themselves at the Garrison Ground in Chester, where they were welcomed by Chester Nomads AFC.
The Nomads (like the Romans), are a club with some history having been founded in 1904.
They play in the 1st Division of the West Cheshire AF League and we expected a keenly contested match.
Sure enough, we had a game on our hands when they opened the scoring after 6 mins.
They then scored a second within a minute of the first!
The Romans dug in and James Handley got one back in the 26th minute.
However, the Romans left it rather late before they equalised through Josh Oultram with 3 mins of the game remaining!
Final score 2-2.
Many thanks to Chester Nomads and we wish them all the very best in the 21/22 campaign.

Please 'keep an eye' on the Hillsfield Diary and our social media for further information regarding the upcoming  season's fixture list.
