Venue – The Northwood Lane Community Stadium, Clayton

Redgate Clayton FC v Rocester FC

Kick-off – 2:00pm

Result – Redgate Clayton FC 7-0 Rocester FC

 

Saturday saw us away at Redgate Clayton FC on a damp and dismal day for our second match of the new campaign in the SCSL.

 

Having previously played Redgate in a 'pre-season' friendly, the Romans were only too aware of the ability of their opponents...

 

Unfortunately for the Rocester 'faithful', this was a day to forget as Redgate dominated all aspects of play - particularly in the first half - and by the 'half-time' whistle, Rocester were losing by six goals to nil...

However, Manager Pete Griffiths must have 'rallied the troops' somewhat with his half-time team talk and following the re-start, the Romans proceeded to stem the first-half onslaught and even started to create a few chances of their own.

 

Unfortunately, the Romans conceded a further goal in the second half and in reply, were unable to find the back of their opponents' net resulting in a full-time score of 7-0.
