Goalkeeper Mundle prevents heavier defeat for the Romans….

Cheadle Town FC 3-0 Rocester FC.

The Romans were without their regular ‘keeper – Charlie Wood- due to covid, however, a notable performance between the sticks for Jaydn Mundle kept Rocester in the game until Cheadle stuck in two late goals to take the points.

Cheadle went ahead in the 11th minute when Pat Davin poked in a cross from Paul Sunderland to score what turned out to be his 50th goal in 62 games.

Cheadle then went close a couple of times before the half-time whistle as both Andrew Lunt and Ryan Usher wasted good chances when firing over the bar.

Cheadle started the second half in determined fashion and Mundle was forced to make excellent saves from both Sam Summerbee and Ryan Usher from close range.

Mundle was finally beaten for the second time in the 80th minute when Enock Amankwaa finished off a counter attack with a well struck shot which found the top corner of the net.

Ten minutes later, Cheadle notched up a third when Adam Jones fed Paul Sunderland who then found the bottom corner of the net to complete a comprehensive victory and disappointment for the Romans, who had been showing much improvement over recent weeks.
