NWCFL Division One (South)

The Romans fell to their sixth successive defeat at Cheadle Heath Nomads, however, they put in a much better performance….

Cheadle took the lead in the first minute when Max Lewens scored.

Four minutes later, the Romans replied with an equaliser when new signing – Elijah Sawyers- picked out ‘that man’ Alex Cimino who proceeded to score his fifth goal of the season.

CHNFC 1-1 RFC

The remainder of the first half saw lively action without further goals.

Half time score CHNFC 1-1 RFC

A minute into the second half and Cheadle took the lead once again when a long cross from Kyle Foley rebounded into the net off the far post.

CHNFC 2-1 RFC

In the 52nd minute, Cheadle found themselves reduced to 10 men when  Harrison Cunningham saw red when he committed a professional foul.

Despite this, Rocester failed to take advantage of the situation and in the 66th minute, Cheadle extended their lead when Lewens tapped in his second goal of the game.

CHNFC 3-1 RFC

In the 73rd minute, Cheadle further extended their lead when a through ball (which was questionably offside), found Dan McLoughlin who made no mistake as he slotted into the back of the net.

CHNFC 4-1 RFC

In extra time, the Romans reduced the arrears when Jordon Dodd netted a consolation goal.

Final Score:  Cheadle Heath Nomads FC 4-2 Rocester FC

The final score didn’t tell the whole story and the Romans were far more competitive and productive than in previous games.

Other positives include the strengthening of the squad with the signing of Elijah Sawyers, Jack Grimshaw and Reuben Lal and of course, goals from Alex Cimino and Jordan Dodd.

This all augers well for the future!
