Tuesday 17th August

Rocester FC v Stafford Town FC
NWCFL Division One (South)
Kick-off 7:45pm

Tuesday 17th August

The Romans got off to a reasonable start against Stafford Town and created some pressure during the first quarter of an hour...

In the 11th minute Josh Oultram fired from just outside the Stafford box only to see it clear the crossbar.

The Romans maintained the pressure for a little while longer and created a couple more half chances before Stafford got into their stride when a well struck cross found the advancing Ben Douglas who made no mistake when heading home.

Score 0-1.

Stafford were now in the ascendancy and created a number of really good chances including a shot from 15 yards which Charlie Wood did really well to save.

In the 39th minute, Stafford scored their second goal when a well taken corner found Ben Douglas, who once again made no mistake when heading home.

Score 0-2.

In the dying seconds of the first half, the visitors created more misery when Nathan Scott struck a low shot into the far corner of the Roman's goal.

Half time score 0-3.

Early on in the second half, Stafford found themselves down to 10 men following a foul on Charlie Wood. However, they still defended resolutely until the 80th minute when Brandon Newell struck a shot which deflected over Stafford's keeper and into the net.

Score 1-3.

Rocester followed this up with another shot straight into the arms of the Stafford keeper.

Unfortunately, despite 6 minutes of additional time, the Romans couldn't find the back of the net.

Final score 1-3.
