Tuesday 27th October

Stapenhill FC v Rocester FC
MFL Division One
Kick-off 7:45pm

Stapenhill had produced an excellent run of results recently and must have felt confident going into this fixture, bearing in mind that the Roman's had struggled with their own form following the enforced lay-off...

It looked as though it was going to be 'more of the same' when, with only 15 minutes on the clock. the Romans conceded a penalty...

Devante Reittie elected to take the spot kick, however, he was denied a goal following a superb save by Charlie Wood as he managed to get his fingertips onto the ball to push it onto the post and away from the goal.

The next notable action came from Liam Robinson as he produced yet another screaming free kick which (unfortunately), crashed against the bar with the Stapenhill keeper stranded.

However, just before half time, Stapenhill took the lead after winning a tackle in the Rocester area; the ball broke kindly for Devante who promptly scored.

Half time score;
Stapenhill FC 1 - 0 Rocester FC

On the 67th minute Rocester drew level from a set piece;

Carl Allenís chip swung into the box, and was knocked down to Alex Scott (making his debut), who proceeded to bury it!

Stapenhill FC 1 - 1 Rocester FC

For the remainder of the game, Stapenhill pushed hard against a Rocester team who literally put their bodies on the line, and who in turn always looked dangerous on the break.

Despite the effort, neither side was able to find that vital second goal and they finished with the honours shared on what was a damp and chilly evening.

Final score was Stapenhill 1-1 Rocester

This was a great result for the Romans who showed great resolve against tough 'in form' opposition.

Also, yet another player making his debut for the Romans, finds the back of the net!!
Well done Alex!

So it's back to Hillsfield on Saturday when we welcome Leicester Road... Yet another team who are setting the pace this season!
The pressure is relentless but tonight, you have shown that you can cope!

So c'mon you mighty Romans!!!!
