Saturday 24th October

Chelmsley Town FC v Rocester FC
MFL Division One
Kick-off 3:00pm

Having lost their previous two matches, the Romans were looking to restart their season and find their previous good form prior to the enforced two week Covid lockdown...

Meanwhile, Chelmsley Town were also looking for a result following a poor run where they had only taken one point from the previous four games.

The first 20 minutes saw action at both ends without any clear cut chances being created.

However, on the 23rd minute mark, the ref awarded Chelmsley Town a free kick in the Rocester half.
The ball was swung into the area and deflected into the net off a Rocester player.

On the 42nd minute mark, the Romans conceded another poor goal when following a corner, Jordan Wade was left unmarked at the back post and was presented with a free header which he duly despatched...

Half-time score;

Chelmsley Town FC 2 - 0 Rocester FC

The first fifteen minutes after the break saw the Romans working hard for little reward and the rain became torrential for a time - which rarely helps...

After 56 minutes, Rocester made a double substitution with Matt Nutt and Jack Thatcher replacing Jay Lovatt and Kieran Lawton.

Shortly after, the Romans created two great opportunities to get back into the game;

Jordan Godfrey firstly saw a shot cleared off the line with the clearance eventually going out for a corner.

He then managed to head over the goal from the resulting corner.

After 65 minutes, Jordan Godfrey finally reaped the reward for his efforts when Jack Thatcher's excellent cross from the left wing was headed back across the goal by Elisio Francisco and the midfielder fired it high into the net.

On the 78th minute, the Romans made their final substitution with Jack Stevens coming on for Elisio Francisco, however, despite fresh legs on the right wing, Rocester couldn't find a way through.
