Saturday 17th October

Rocester FC v Bewdley Town FC
FA Vase QR2
Kick-off 3:00pm

After the Romans' recent good form, it was most unfortunate that the team had to endure an enforced two week lay-off due to a positive Covid-19 test within the camp.
This wasn't the ideal preparation for a cup tie against a team who play in the West Midland (Regional) League - Premier Division...

The visitors initially set the pace and were rewarded with a goal after just 8 minutes.
However, Rocester started to 'up' their tempo and created a couple of chances before they were handed a gift in the form of an own goal by the visitors after 13 minutes. - A Bewdley defender passed back to his keeper who was unable to stop it rolling into the net.

Following the equaliser, both teams contributed to an entertaining finish to the first half with chances and goalscoring opportunities being created at both ends - without success.

Half-time score;
Rocester 1-1 Bewdley Town

Rocester made a couple of half-time substitutions with Kieran Lawton and Jordan Dodd replacing Matt Nutt and Jack Dundas.
A further substitution was made at the 61' mark when Elisio Francisco replaced Jack Thatcher.
Although Rocester worked hard, their efforts came to nothing as Bewdley started to take control when they scored a second goal after 74 minutes - a low shot into the bottom left.

Try as they might, Rocester just couldn't find a way back and Bewdley 'ran the clock down' whilst maintaining the pressure on the Rocester defence.
As a result, Bewdley were rewarded with a third goal on the 89th minute!
Final score;
Rocester 1-3 Bewdley Town

Bewdley Town proved to be tough opponents and we would like to wish them all the best in the 'Vase' and also in their league.
