Competition THE MFL Division 1

Venue Hillsfield, Rocester

Opponents Paget Rangers FC

Result Rocester FC 3 - 1 Paget Rangers FC

Kick-off 7:45pm

Following their tremendous performance against Coventry Copsewood, the Romans hoped to maintain the momentum as they welcomed Paget Rangers FC to Hillsfield.

The starting line-up saw yet more changes as the Romans' injury list continued to lengthen.

The club were also pleased to announce the arrival of three new faces, namely, David Bailey, Harrison Richardson and Charlie Batho...

Owing to the number of injured players, all three of the new signings found themselves 'on the bench'...

Rocester did not get off to a particularly good start...

In fact, Rangers set the early pace and after just 13 minutes, Myles Lowe made a run down the left and played Euan Kemp in on the overlap.

Kemp then squared the ball to Max Turner who in turn, slotted the ball home.

Score: Rocester 0-1 Paget Rangers

The remainder of the first half belonged to the Bears and although they created more opportunities, they failed to capitalise on their early success.

Half time score: Rocester 0-1 Paget Rangers

At half time, the Romans made their first substitution with David Bailey replacing Kieran Lawton.

Just 5 minutes into the second half, the Romans were back on level terms thanks to Liam Robinson's superb goal 'poaching' ability!!

Score: Rocester 1-1 Paget Rangers

A second substitution was made after 57 minutes with Jordan Godfrey replacing Jack Dundas in midfield...

Rocester were now in the ascendancy and beginning to make their presence felt.

A third substitution was made in the 65th minute when the injured Luca Sorrentino was replaced by James Handley.

After 71 minutes, Rocester were awarded a free kick in the Bears' half on the right-hand side and some 25 yards out.

Liam Robinson delivered a perfectly weighted ball across the front of goal to Jordan Godfrey, who headed it into the top left-hand corner of their goal!

Score: Rocester 2-1 Paget Rangers

Just 4 minutes later, James Handley scored his first for the Romans as he broke away and had the composure to cut inside and curl one into the bottom right corner!!!!

Score: Rocester 3-1 Paget Rangers

The Romans continued to apply pressure up to the final whistle and defended valiantly as and when required!!

To conclude - A great team effort with some very nice individual touches and a great result!!

Final score:

Rocester 3-1 Paget Rangers

So, we now look forward to Saturday's visit to Heath Hayes..

C'mon you mighty Romans!!!
