Competition – Midland Football League Division One

Venue – Hillsfield, Rocester

Opponents – Nuneaton Griff FC

Result – Rocester FC 0 – 1 Nuneaton Griff FC

Today we welcomed Nuneaton Griff FC to Hillsfield....

Over the years, they really have become one of our 'bogey' sides and so it continued...

Although the Romans defended well for most of the match (with Carl Allen picking up the Opposition’s ‘Man of the Match’ award), the Griffs scored the only goal of the game with just 2 minutes to go when Aden Moore fired home after the Griff's late corner was headed back across the Romans' goal!

The Romans had been boosted through the signing of James Handley – James has had previous experience Buxton FC of the NPL and although he didn’t score on his debut, he worked well with Derry Creighton and Jack Stevens ‘up front’.

Unfortunately, they just lacked that cutting-edge on this occasion and fate denied Rocester a late equaliser.....

Final score; 0-1...

**As a footnote, Elisio Francisco made a welcome return after an injury kept him out of action over the last few weeks, but of course it will take a little time before the winger reaches full match fitness.

So, once again, it's onwards and upwards to next Tuesday Night's MFL fixture at Ashby Ivanhoe.

C'mon you Romans!!!
