Mark Kavanagh Named As Rocester's New Manager
We are very pleased to announce that Mark Kavanagh has been appointed as the club's new first team manager.
Mark quickly accepted the challenge and has already started making preparations for the new season along with his assistant Anthony Jones.
A former professional goalkeeper with Walsall and Bristol Rovers, Mark went on to enjoy a 15-year career in non-league football and lists Stafford Rangers, Stourbridge and our Midland Alliance rivals Gornal Athletic among his former clubs.
Between 2002 and 2006 Mark was first team manager of Dudley Town in the West Midlands League Premier Division, and he has also worked as Goalkeeping Coach with both Willenhall Town and Rushall Olympic.
Originally from Stafford, Mark is now based in Burton, and is currently on the Burton Albion Academy Coaching Staff.
Romans Vice-President Harold Brassington said; "Mark and Anthony were outsiders before we interviewed them but they left a lasting impression on us with their enthusiasm and knowledge of the local football scene. They simply wanted a chance to prove themselves; we are pleased to give them that opportunity and I'm sure they will take it."
Assistant Anthony Jones has been involved in football at various levels for 27 years although his own playing career was cut short by injury. He has a proven track record in unearthing young talent, and also has Managerial experience in Youth football.
The Board and Committee of Rocester Football Club welcome Mark and Anthony to Hillsfield, and wish them every success.
