Dave Shaw Named As Rocester's New Manager
The Board and Committee of Rocester Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Shaw as our new Manager.
Dave, 36, is well-known to the club having enjoyed three spells at Hillsfield as a player - first joining in November 2006 from Leek Town.
He left Hillsfield to rejoin Kidsgrove Athletic in June 2008 but returned for two more brief spells, the last of which came in 2010 under Dave Langston's management.
Always a fans' favourite at Hillsfield, his 100 appearances produced 54 goals - including the opener in the 3-0 win over Kidsgrove Athletic in the 2008 Staffordshire F.A. Senior Cup Final at Vale Park.
A much-travelled striker, he represented most of the non-league clubs in and around the Potteries during a distinguished playing career.
In recent seasons Dave has wound down his playing days in the Staffordshire County League with Kidsgrove Athletic Reserves.
We have always been aware of his intentions to move into management and we are very pleased to be able to give him that opportunity.
He will take charge for the first time when Loughborough University visit Hillsfield on Saturday (7th December), when we can also expect to see a couple of new signings on show.
We are also delighted to confirm that Anthony Jones (left), who has been with us since the summer as one of previous boss Mark Kavanagh's Assistants, has agreed to stay on in a similar role helping Dave Shaw.
Anthony has earned the respect of everyone at Hillsfield and we believe he will prove to be a valuable asset to the club going forward.
