Dan SmithRight-back Danny Smith has today became the third player this week to tell manager Steve Swanwick that he will be leaving Rocester to join a club at a higher level.

With both Leek Town and Kidsgrove Athletic chasing his signature Danny had a tough choice to make, but he has opted to join his local club Kidsgrove Athletic.

Along with Tommy Smith and Mark Ruddock, Danny goes with our best wishes and thanks for all that he has contributed to the club.

Manager Steve Swanwick commented; "We were always going to lose Dan this summer because he is such a good player, but aside from that he's a lovely lad, completely honest and he's been an absolute pleasure to manage."

"In many ways it's 'job done' for us with Dan. He was possibly a bit disillusioned with the game when he joined us because he had been messed about at a couple of clubs, but he's enjoyed his football at Rocester and proved what a good player he is, and now he can get back towards the level he should be playing at."

"All three of the lads who have said they are leaving have handled the situation extremely well; it's been a tough decision for all of them because they really enjoy it at Rocester, but the chance to play at a higher level is always going to tempt players and that's understandable."
