Romans Appoint New Chairman at AGM

In a letter received early last week Harold Brassington tendered his resignation as Chairman of Rocester Football Club.

Harold took over as Chairman from David Price in February 2010, but due to health reasons he has not been able to dedicate the time and commitment to the role that he would have liked.

The Board and Committee of Rocester Football Club would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation to Harold for stepping in as Chairman at what was a very difficult time for the club. We wish him well for the future and hope for a speedy and successful resolution to his health problems.

At the club's AGM which was held at the ground last Friday evening (6th May), Vice-Chairman Mark Deaville was unanimously elected to replace Harold as Chairman.

Mark is a former Rocester player having turned out for the reserves some years ago, but he is perhaps better-known as a Staffordshire Moorlands Councillor, as Landlord of the Anchor Inn at Teanford, and through his involvement in a number of clubs, events and charity fund-raisers held locally.

Following his appointment Mark commented that he is very proud to be chairman of the club and is looking forward to the challenge. "There are some good, hard-working people here and I believe we've got a sound base to build on."

At the same meeting Andy Nicholls was elected as Vice-Chairman; Gilbert Egerton, who has served the club for 60 years, accepted the title of Life President; and several newcomers to the club's Committee were also officially elected.
