Dave Langston Appointed Manager
We are very pleased to announce that former Romans midfielder Dave Langston has today been appointed as the club's new first team manager, taking over from Alan Beaman who resigned early last week.
Dave was offered the post on Sunday evening and accepted the challenge this morning after clearing the way with his current club Brereton Social, where he will complete the week before taking over at Hillsfield in time for the home fixture against Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday 9th February.
He made over 150 appearances for the club between 1996 and 2001, and was an integral part of our Midland Alliance title-winning team in 1999.
As a player he enjoyed a lengthy spell with Chasetown before joining Rocester, and he also represented Bromsgrove Rovers and Stafford Town among others before spending the last five years at Brereton Social as player, coach and ultimately manager.
Another former Rocester player, Richard Knight, will also be joining us as part of Dave's coaching staff.
Richard Owen has stepped in to take control of team affairs for the League Cup tie at Coventry Sphinx this Tuesday (2nd Feb) and next Saturday's visit to Oadby Town.
Alan has put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the club since he returned to manage the first team in October 2008, and we would like to thank him for those efforts.
Alan has enjoyed his return to football despite the difficult circumstances behind the scenes, and he wishes the club, the players and his successor Dave Langston the very best of luck.
He remains a good friend of the club, and we hope to see him back at Hillsfield in the near future.
